Single-Family New Construction Down Payment Assistance

The North Iowa Area Council of Governments is offering down payment assistance of up to 25% of the purchase price of 101 newly constructed homes in the North Iowa area.

Mitchell County is part of an 11 county housing trust fund. There are two different programs available.

 First program provides for a GRANT up to $5,000 to support rental deposits, utility deposits, and home repairs. 

In order to qualify for these grant funds you must be at or below 30% of Mitchell County’s county wide median income.

  1 & 2 Person - $20,441                  3 & 4 person - $23,507

*Can live in one of our Mitchell County communities or in rural Mitchell County and apply for grant funds in this program.

Second program provides for a GRANT/LOAN up to $7,000 to be used for down payment assistance, closing costs, or REPAIRS.  .

In order to qualify for these grant funds you must be at or below 80% of Mitchell County’s county wide median income.

1 & 2 Person - $54,510                      4 person - $62,687

*Can live in one of our Mitchell County communities or in rural Mitchell County and apply funds from   this program.
