Located in south central Mitchell County 2 miles north and 2 miles west of Osage. Highway 218 is just 2 miles East. The Cedar River is the western border of Mitchell.

Mitchell is the home to nearly 160 residents. Mitchell is governed by a 5 member council along with a mayor that oversee the operations of the town.

The Mitchell Dam is a hydroelectric plant that produces much of the electric power in the county. Located on the Cedar River it creates a great park for boating and camping.
